Now accepting applications for summer 2012

Filling out your application
Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 summer session. The deadline for applications has been extended to November 30, 2011. Please submit your application in full.

You can submit your application:
• In person: at the CSU office H-711 or at the CVAP office, 2110 Mackay #210 between the hours of 10-16h Monday-Thursday

Your Application Package

Please include:
• A completed application form (see Word document below)
• A letter of intent (maximum 300 words)
• Transcript (may be printed from MyConcordia portal)
• Resume (CV)
• One letter of reference (preferably one from a Concordia Professor)
Please note, references are accepted via email, provided that they are received from a professional email address (ie. soandso@concordia.ca, as opposed to soandso@hotmail.com)
• A $50 cheque for administrative fees, payable to The Concordia Volunteer Abroad Program (please note: your cheque will not be cashed unless your application is accepted).

Application Process

Selection Criteria
Each student interested in taking part in the volunteer abroad program will have to undergo a lengthy application process in order to be selected to participate. The application process will include an interview (if necessary), as well as a review of their resume. CVAP currently accepts as many as 40 students to volunteer in Uganda each year.

Maximum Yearly Acceptance:
The Selection Committee must choose no more than 50 applicants due to space availability. These students will be chosen in groups of 25. They will be chosen to take part in one of two 8 week groups. The two 8 week groups will take place during the following dates:

Group 1: May 1st to June 30th
Group 2: July 1st to August 30th

Selection Committee Meetings:
The deadline to submit online applications for the 2012 volunteer groups is November 30th 2011.

The Selection Committee will meet at the end of November to begin the selection process. Students who are accepted into the program will be notified by the first week of December.

Who is eligible?
All Concordia students are eligible to apply as well as Concordia alumni, faculty, and students from other universities. Please note however that priority will be given to Concordia students if applications exceed available space.

Plagiarism
Applicants are expected to submit their own answers. CVAP uses the university policy on plagiarism and academic integrity. Applicants who are found to have submitted answers that are not their own will be automatically disqualified.
